Artist Statement

The landscapes of the Haliburton Highlands and my travels across Canada and the United States are my muse. The colours, movement, and power within nature are a never ending source of inspiration. As an emerging artist, I am still exploring what direction my work will take, whether it be realistic, impressionist, or conceptual.

My work is a mixture of acrylic paintings on wood and canvas, wood cut and intaglio printmaking using plexiglass. Many of my pieces are based on onsite scetches done in pastel or photos that I have taken. Through my sketches I can take the essence of the place or situation that I wish to recreate, without limiting myself to it and all of its details.
