Newfanglers Art Festival is a show and sale for the emerging generation of artists. The first annual Newfanglers took place in (Carnarvon) Haliburton Ontario, on the 4th and 5th of August, 2007. This year, our third time’s the charm grand event will be August 1st & 2nd, 2009.

The main intention of Newfanglers is to give youth some exposure and a venue to test the waters in their budding arts careers. In any business it is difficult to muster the confidence to self promote, and know how to go about getting one’s voice heard. It can also be challenging to find acceptance into galleries, shows, and arts events having little or no prior experience in doing so. The Newfanglers co-ordinators are unbiased, and currently “emerging” themselves, which takes some of the pressure off of the application, and mentorship process. Be assured that they have paid their dues and earned their stripes though - always striving for the best (and most radical).

Artists of any medium will be accepted to assure a pleasing variety for guests attending. We are featuring new media arts installation, earth art, textiles, paint, mixed media, performance, theatre, photography, illustration, ceramics, music and more. We also do not stifle our artists by making them choose one medium to include. The quality of work is guaranteed to be exceptional because these newbies are determined to prove their worth!

This is a chance for youth to express themselves in a professional yet relaxed setting. The atmosphere is accented by the outdoor setting, surrounded by the forest. It is also a chance for Haliburton’s residents and seasonal guests to get a taste of whats to come in the arts.
